Novel preparation of low-cost support for NaA zeolite membrane by utilizing natural clay

Abstract The membrane support is the basis for preparation and application of zeolite its cost properties directly determine performance as well industrial applications. In this paper, direct synthesis NaA on a novel low-cost via an in situ reaction by utilizing natural clay can enable significant reduction manufacturing costs. During membrane, additives, such Al 2 O 3 , Al(OH) AlF were combined with kaolin used alumina precursors. Using resulting porous mullite support, effects firing temperature permeability pore structure investigated extensively. results experiment showed that silica was reacted precursor producing needle-like served rigid skeleton support. Thus, network could be formed during sintering process. prepared supports exhibited high pure water permeance 3324 L m h 1 bar open porosity 41.8% mean size 1.36 µm which ideal membrane.
